Texas HoldemTEXAS HOLDEMTexas Holdem is the greatest poker game, played ever. Although it is believed, it takes a lifetime to master, you need just a couple of minutes to grasp. As a community card game, Texas Holdem is played with a standard deck of 52 cards, there are between 2 and 10 players on the poker table and a dealer or dealer's button. What differs Texas Holdem from other card games is the use of community cards - these are five face- up cards placed in the center of the table, which players are allowed to use in forming of a poker hand. The object of Texas Holdem is players to make the best five card combination, using both their two hole cards and the community cards, and the player who holds the strongest poker hand wins the pot. Before the Texas Holdem action begins, each player is dealt his pocket, or also known as hole, cards. There are four betting rouns in a game of Texas Holdem - pre- flop, flop, turn and river. TEXAS HOLDEM - The DealerThe dealer or dealer's button, when played online, in Texas Holdem determines the order of play in a betting round. The Texas Holdem action always proceeds clockwise and starts with the player seated left of the button or the dealer who always acts first in any given betting round. Last player to act is this who sits in front of the button, which is a great advantage to him, because he can await the actions of the other players before deciding on his own actions. TEXAS HOLDEM - The BlindsAfter Texas Holdem players are dealt their hole cards, the first two players to the dealer's left must place the blinds - small mandatory bets that ensure that every single pot has a value. As the button moves before each round begins, blinds must be posted, which value depends on how big a game you are playing. There are two blinds, Small blind is placed by the first player to the left of the dealer and the Big blind is posted by the second player. TEXAS HOLDEM - ActionsThere are five possible options for players when playing a game of Texas Holdem, when it’s the players turn to act, they can choose to call, bet, check, fold or raise. When a player bet, means that he wagers an amount, adding it to the pot, if a player chooses to call, this means that he matches a previously made bet. In a case a player raises, he increases the wagered amount. The option fold, means dropping out of the pot, not wanting to call any made bets or raises. If a player decides to check, he is allowed to do it if no bets are yet in play. TEXAS HOLDEM - The ShowdownSometimes Showdown is the last action in Texas Holdem, there is Showdown if two or more players remain after the final betting round and there is no Showdown if a player bets and all other players fold, then the remaining player is awarded the pot and is not required to show his hole cards. When there is Showdown, each player plays the best five-card hand he can make from the seven cards comprising his two hole cards and the board, so that the player with the strongest hand wins the pot. |
